  • One seat available on the newly-elected council
    After the recent Local Elections held on 4 May eight of the previous nine councillors were re-elected. No election had to be held because there were fewer nominations than seats available on the council. There is one place on the council. Should anyone wish to join the council please speak to the Chairman, Tony McCann
  • Bathampton Footpaths Association has disabnded
    At their AGM last month, the Bathampton Footpaths Association voted to disband the organisation. Responsibility for monitoring the footpaths now falls to the Parish Council. If you spot problems with any rights of way please get in touch with Cllr David Mayo
  • Super-fast internet coming to Bathampton
    The Council received a planning application from BT wanting to install a superfast internet connection to the village
  • Bathampton Meadows Park & Ride looks set to be abandoned
    The new Liberal Democrat-run BANES council will be issuing a statement soon about their revised plans for the Bath Transport Package which look set to abandon plans to build a Park & Ride on Bathampton Meadows. The Parish Council has opposed this scheme since it was suggested by the previous BANES administration so we are hopeful this will be the end of the line for this idea
  • Parking Restrictions feedback
    Parish Councillors have received mostly positive feedback from residents in and around Tyning Road. If you have any concerns over adverse effects caused by the new parking restrictions please get in touch with Cllr Keith Rossiter
  • Dogs in the playing field
    Please note that dogs are not permitted on the playing field opposite the Village Hall. Children play on that field and it is essential the field is left free from dog mess. If you spot anyone walking their dog over the playing field please contact the local Police Community Support Officer

News – May 2011

  • Safe Routes to School work – next 4-5 weeks
    We have been campaigning for some time to the Safe Routes to School fund. The work has finally been agreed and will mean a raised section at the bottom of Dark Lane. We have been told this work to start in 4-6 weeks.
  • Parking restrictions on Tyning Rd and Church Close due to start 9-May
    You may have seen parking restriction notices being erected recently. These are due to come into force on 9 May.
  • Council Chairman to attend a meeting to discuss the Bath Transport Package
    Tony McCann, the chairman of the parish council, will be attending a meeting of the Bath Transport Commission to discuss the Bath Transport Package as a representative of the Valley Parish Alliance

  • Local council elections open
    You can now nominate yourself for a place on the parish council. Nominations close on 4 April. For more information about the process please call Tony McCann
  • Annual Parish Meeting arranged for 14 April
    Come and find out what your Parish Council have been doing this year. As usual a glass of wine and nibbles will be on offer after the meeting. As well as the usual reports from the groups, other topics will include the transition of British Waterways into a Trust, the Localism Bill, parking restrictions and Valley Parish Alliance
  • BANES turned down 4 houses in triangular field
    The latest attempt to build on the triangular field has been rejected by BANES. Thanks to all those who registered objections to preserve this important green and open village space
  • A36 closure on 20 March for tree cutting works
    Please note the A36 will be closed between 8am – 8pm for tree cutting works. This work has been postponed several times.
  • Replacement cherry tree in Jubilee Gardens
    A new cherry tree has been planted in Jubilee Gardens thanks to a kind sponsor.
  • Considering alternative bus stop locations on Holcombe Lane
    B&NES have a supply of second-hand bus shelters. We have suggested several locations – our preferred location being outside the Methodist Church on Holcombe Lane
