The Parish Council maintains and improves those areas of the village intended for public use and enjoyment.
We maintain the playground equipment and playing fields. Quarterly safety checks are carried out by B&NES on the playground equipment. We implement recommendations for improvement and maintenance. We liaise with B&NES to ensure that the grass is cut regularly.
We are responsible for the administration of the allotments in Bathampton. Responsibilities range from allocation of allotments and rent collection to ensuring that regulations are adhered to and plots are maintained to a reasonable standard.
We lease Jubilee Gardens (the parcel of land adjacent to the canal, between the George and the hump backed bridge) fromĀ the Canal and River TrustĀ in order to provide a pleasant and scenic spot for villagers and visitors. It is a popular resting place, and we have installed a number of the benches there, and ensure that hedges, trees and the grass are kept tidy.
In addition, we ensure the village flower tubs – three dotted around the village, and a further six in the churchyard – are planted and look pretty.
If you are interested in joining the waiting list for an allotment, if you have comments or suggestions about our communal areas, or you could help to keep our village attractive, please contact Jan Helps.
